WANDA RUTKIEWICZ
Wanda Rutkiewicz (1943 - 1992) - the most famous Polish Alpine and Himalayan mountain climber. In 1978 she became the first Polish woman and third woman in the world to reach the summit of Mount Everest. Between 1985 and 1991 she climbed 7 of the summits over 8,000 m. She died during an expedition to Kanchenjunga in 1992.
