Poles’ Trust in Various Information Sources

Opinion polls show that Poles trust their families and the closest circles of friends the most. In light of the above, how do they trust information provided by the media? For Polish society, the main information source is TV, followed by the radio, press and the Internet. It is not surprising, therefore, that almost all households have a colour TV set (97%), approximately 20% have more than one TV, and two thirds of Poles (68%) have a radio. Of all the mass media, the most trusted one is the radio (3.49 points on a scale of 1 to 5), followed by TV (3.46), the Internet (3.43), and the press (3.32). The Internet is regarded as a credible source of information by teenagers (43%), university graduates (41%) as well as students (40%).

Almost half of the respondents (48%) believe that new technologies like the Internet and mobile telephony make the world a better place. Approximately 60% of mobile phone, computer and Internet users see mainly the benefits of the introduction and use of new technologies.
