"Peter and the Wolf" nominated for an Oscar

The American Film Academy has nominated "Peter and the Wolf" for an Oscar in the Short Animated Film category. The film is a joint work of Se-ma-for Film Production, a £ód¼-based company, and a British company BreakThru Films. The film was directed by Suzie Templeton from the UK.

The credit for the brilliant film adaptation and success enjoyed by Sergei Prokofiev's ballet goes in large measure to the Polish studio Se-ma-for, where all the work - puppet figures, scenery, shoot and digital postproduction - was done. The world premiere of "Peter and the Wolf" took place in September 2006 in London at the Royal Albert Hall and was attended by an audience of nearly seven thousand people. The music was played live by a symphony orchestra - The Philharmonia Orchestra under Mark Stephenson.

The film has already received many prestigious awards, including the Annecy Crystal grand prix and the Audience Award at last year's International Animated Film Festival in Annecy, France. The film's world premiere took place in September 2006 in London, and it had its Polish debut on 22 April 2007 during the 4th International Animation Festival RE-ANIMACJA in £ód¼, with the participation of the Artur Rubinstein Philharmonic Orchestra under Marcin Wolniewski.
