Every year the original battle field at Grunwald turns into a historical event that brings the reality of the famous medieval struggle to the spectators from all over the world. This July marks the 600th anniversary of the glorious victory of the Polish-Lithuanian allied forces over the Teuthonic Knights. The battle was one of the largest in Medieval Europe and is thought to be the most important achievement in the history of Poland and Lithuania.
This year's history-laden Grunwald Days will take place from July 15th to 17th and their lavish and diversified programme includes the Grunwald Call to Arms, i.e. the arrival of King Władysław Jagiełło and the Grand Master, Ulrich von Jungingen accompanied by mounted companies at the Grunwald Fields, mediaeval festivities and a fair in the nearby craftsman’s village. The fans of knightly style of fighting should enjoy a tournament of knights and a Fire Festival. The re-enactment of the battle will begin at 2 pm on 17 July. The organizers of the 600th anniversary of the Battle of Grunwald include authorities of the Warmia and Mazury Province, as well as the local authorities of the Grunwald Commune and the Grunwald Foundation. The historical part of the Grunwald Days is organized by Krzysztof Górecki and Jacek Szymański.
