On January 27th, in the former German Nazi Auschwitz Concentration Camp ceremonies commemorating the 65th anniversary of the liberation of the camp by the Red Army will be held.
The German Nazi Auschwitz Camp – all over the world a symbol of terror, genocide and the Holocaust, established by Germans in 1940, in the suburbs of Oswiecim, a Polish city that was annexed to the Third Reich by the Nazis. Since 1942 the principal and most notorious of the six concentration and extermination camps established by Nazi Germany to implement its Final Solution policy which had as its aim the mass extermination of the Jewish people in Europe.
In human consciousness, a key place of memory for the Holocaust, racist policies and barbarism. A place of collective memory of this dark chapter in the history of humanity. A place, where the memory of times of contempt is transmitted to the following generations. A warning against the consequences of totalitarianism and extreme ideologies, divesting of the right to human dignity.
Annual commemorating the anniversary of the camp’s liberation as a way to fulfill the historical and moral duty towards the millions of victims is a symbol of sustained protest and perennial mourning. (from: www.auschwitz.org.pl)
